This course explains the permanent damage to insulating paper caused by oil degradation, and therefore, the need for an overall oil testing program to understand the condition of the transformer. Building from the test result data, we will then explain the oil test result classifications and recommendations leading to the proper predictive and preventative maintenance services to extend the reliable and cost effective life of the transformer (covered further in Course 10 – Transformer Maintenance Services).
